01The problem

Waste isn’t the problem.

What happens next is.

Large volumes of mixed municipal waste need dependable infrastructure that connects collection, processing and productive use.

The gap isn’t waste. It’s infrastructure.

02The system

A replicable circular model.

  1. 01

    Feedstock

Mixed municipal waste is assessed by volume, composition and collection route.

  2. 02

    Processing

Segregation and stream-specific processing recover the maximum practical value.

  3. 03

    Offtake

Recovered materials and outputs return to productive use, minimising landfill.

Mixed waste becomes useful material when the whole system works.

03The starting point

Starting in Jaffna District.

The first proposed facilities focus on plastics at Valvettithurai and composting at Mulli. They are proof-of-concept steps toward an integrated municipal solid waste model intended for the whole district.

05Beyond Jaffna

Three ways to scale.

Geography, materials and productive uses. Together they form a model designed to be proven locally and replicated carefully.

01

Geography

Start local. Build a model that can travel.

Beginning in Jaffna, the model is designed to expand through Northern and Eastern Sri Lanka, other regions of the island and, over time, selected international markets.

  2. Northern ProvinceTARGET
  3. Eastern and other Sri Lankan regionsLONG-TERM AMBITION
  4. Mauritius · selected African marketsLONG-TERM AMBITION

02

Materials

One stream is a business. Every stream is infrastructure.

The model is intended to move beyond initial plastics and organics toward the full municipal waste stream: paper, metals, glass, rubber, coconut waste, textiles, sanitary waste, e-waste and inert material.

03

Products

Recovery is only the beginning.

Over time, Pragmatix intends to move further downstream — from processed materials such as plastic pellets into higher-value finished products, including applications such as furniture.

Expansion · Geography

Jaffna first. Then the map widens.

  1. PLANNED

    Jaffna District

The first proposed facilities establish the model in one district.

  2. TARGET

    Northern Province

A future pathway through neighbouring districts and the Eastern Province.

  3. LONG-TERM AMBITION

    Other Sri Lankan regions

A long-term network of regional facilities rather than one central plant.

  4. LONG-TERM AMBITION

    Beyond Sri Lanka

Future markets with comparable waste challenges — Mauritius and selected African markets.

Jaffna District is the starting point. Every location beyond it is a future expansion pathway.

09Economic logic

Waste is an environmental challenge. Infrastructure makes it an economic opportunity.

01

Secure feedstock

Long-term material supply agreements before capacity is committed.

02

Build processing capacity

Facilities sized to real, verified material volumes.

03

Establish reliable offtake

Buyers qualified on specification, not on intention.

10Partnership

The system needs participants, not spectators.

A cleaner Sri Lanka needs more than good intentions.

It needs infrastructure. Let’s build it.
